Document Overview
A Letter of Authorisation - Entity is a formal document used in court-annexed mediation where an organization, such as a company, government body, agency, or partnership, appoints a specific officer or representative to act on its behalf in the mediation.
In simple terms, it tells the mediator: “This person has authority to represent us in this mediation matter.”
The authorized officer can participate in the mediation, speak for the entity, make decisions, sign mediation documents, and even execute a settlement agreement if the dispute is resolved. The form also provides space for the entity name, the authorized person’s name, signature, date, and the officer giving the authorization.
Its purpose is to confirm that the person attending mediation is not just appearing casually, but has official permission to bind the organization. This prevents disputes later where an entity might claim that the representative had no authority to agree, negotiate, or sign a settlement. It also helps the mediator and the Court-Annexed Mediation Registry know who is properly representing the entity in the mediation process.
